A day in the past the makers of the biopic of Sri Lankan cricketer Muthiah Muralidaran shared the first look poster of Vijay Sethupathi as the cricketer. The film titled 800 landed itself in bother publish the poster release after a bit of folks protested in opposition to the film. The makers, Dar Motion Pictures, clarified that the film will focus solely on the cricketing journey and not make any political statement.
On Wednesday, the hashtag ‘Shame on Vijay Sethupathi’ was trending on Twitter as the actor agreed to be an element of the biopic of Muthiah Muralidaran who hails from Sri Lanka, a rustic that oppressed Tamilians. Those folks protesting objected to the reality that the actor agreed to play somebody who supported the Sri Lankan authorities in its battle in opposition to Tamils.
Following the objection raised by folks, the makers launched an official statement. “It came to our notice that our film” 800 “, the biopic of Muthiah Muralidharan that includes Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, is being politicized in some ways. However, we need to make clear that 800 is a purely a sports activities biography film about the legendary cricketer Muthiah Muralidharan. The film is a journey a few man who hails from the Tamil migrant group, going on to develop into the highest wicket taker of all time, ”the statement learn.
“The film does not make any political statement favoring any community. The film is intended to be an inspiration for the young generation to achieve their dreams irrespective of the difficulties they come across in their journey. We as the producers assure that this film will not showcase any scenes that would belittle the struggles of Eelam Tamils in Sri Lanka or hurt their sentiments in any way, ”he added.
“On a positive note, the film will engage the Tamil film community in Sri Lanka providing the artists and technicians a platform to showcase their talents on a global stage. Art is beyond boundaries; it unites people all across. Artists belong to the world. We wish to spread only positivity, love and hope, ”he wrote.
Meanwhile, the film directed by MS Sripathy is slated to go on the flooring from February or March 2021.
